President's
Day at Thetford Golf Club |
Thursday
16th September 2010 |
President's day for the society was held at Thetford Golf Club on
Thursday 16th September.
Conditions for the early starters were very good, but the weather
deteriorated for the later starters, who finished playing in the
rain.
This however did not spoil a very enjoyable day for everyone.
The course was in excellent condition following the recent drought
conditions during the summer, indeed, in August the course was almost
completely brown, apart from the greens!, but on the day the course
was nice and green.
There were sixty three members of the society playing for three
trophies, the over sixtyfives trophy, the under sixtyfives trophy
and the two Mikes cup!
Prior to the dinner cheques were presented to the two charities
the society had raised money for, during the year. This year it
was East Anglian Air Ambulance and the One Armed Golfers Society,
each received a cheque for £950.
The Society President, Frank Myers presented the cheque to Hannah
Clay of EAAA and the Society Captain, Malcolm Fuller presented the
cheque to Peter Prescott of the One Armed Golfers Society.
An excellent meal presented by the catering staff of the club, followed
the presentations.
Prior to the presentation of prizes, the President spoke about his
year in office, of how much he had enjoyed it and thanked the members
for their support over the year.
The President presented the prizes to the following:

Picken Shield, Captain’s day and President's day.
The President had also invited four members of other counties to
join us on the day and he presented them with gifts and thanked
them for their support over the last nine years when he was Secretary
of the Society.
