The Society held their annual Captains Day, this
year at Sheringham golf club, on Thursday 19th May.
Sixtythree members of the Society took part in the event, hosted
by the Society Captain Keith Bass. Keith did not play, but acted
as starter and score recorder for the day, ably assisted in the
morning by Roger Smith, who was unable to play, but wanted to
help, for which the society is very grateful!
The conditions were far better than the recent John Picken Shield,
in that the wind didn't blow as strongly as it did then and the
sun shone all day!!
After the golf members enjoyed an excellent meal, provided by
the catering staff. During coffee the club captain, Martin Read,
welcomed the Society to Sheringham golf club and said one or two
anecdotes about his first day with the Society and looked forward
to enjoying many years as a new member of the Society.
The Society Captain suitably responded and then presented the
prizes:
The
tradition on Captains day is that the format is, 'hidden partners':

of the Society. The winner of this trophy was the Society secretary,
Ian Alderton with 38 points 20 points on back 9. Michael Collison
also scored 38 points, with 19 on the back 9.
The proceedings were rounded off with a raffle, which raised the
magnificent sum of £335, our thanks go to all those who kindly
donated prizes.

Keith and also thanked the greens staff and catering staff for an
excellent day.
