Invitation Day at Royal Norwich Golf Club
Wednesday 25th May 2011

See Gallery below for all images Twenty six members and twenty six guests enjoyed a lovely days golf at Royal Norwich. As you will have noticed by now the report usually starts with the weather and this one is no different. The sun shone on one and all, throughout the morning and into the afternoon, with a relativly mild wind following the recent coastal winds.

The fairways have really started to go brown and those of you that can remember back to the summer of 76 at the Royal, that is how they are now, the greens however have still kept green and were a pleasure to put on, the quickest I have seen this year!!

The scores reflected the conditions with the winners Gordon Cartwright and David Wolstenholme (both members of the Royal Norwich)coming in with 45 points.

In second place were David Lusha and his guest Ron Bridge with 42 points, in third place also with 42 points Frank Myers and his guest Gordon Evans, in fourth place also off 42 points was Roger Duffield and his guest Michael Haw. Booby prize was narrowly missed by Kevin Woolley and his guest Stan. Stannard, this went to the member who came second last year, James Gregory and his guest Cliff Haycroft (how the mighty fall!!!), better get a different guest next year James!!!

After the golf we had a lovely meal provided by the catering staff.

The members and guests were welcomed to the club by club past captain, Gordon Cartwright and the response was given by our Society captain Keith Bass, who thanked Gordon and the club for presenting an excellent course for us and the caterers for the excellent meal.

The prizes were presented jointly by our Captain and President, they are starting to make a great double act!!

The secretary thanked Keith Bass for his help with the issuing of the cards in the morning and for scoring when they were handed back and also to Alan Hill for his assistance not only on the day, but for his work behind the scenes in supporting the secretary.

The secretary then wished everyone a safe journey home.
