On a very hot Monday afternoon 50 players from
the two counties assembled for Lunch at Heacham Manor Golf Club.
The Leicestershire team had brought an extra player and one of
the Norfolk members (Ron Kent) lives close by so he joined the
team for lunch and was then paired up with the extra player from
Leics.
The club allowed us to play off two tees, wich then enabled all
to finish in time to dine by 1830hrs.
After an excellent dinner the societies were welcomed by the Club
Captain, Peter Brown. Our Society President, Alan Nichols responded.
The visiting Society President Murdo Ferrier replied and congratulated
the Club on the excellence of their course, as it was only one
year and two months old!! He also thanked all the staff for not
only the excellent food we had at lunch and dinner, but for the
manner in the way they looked after the societies during the day.
He announced the result as five and a half, four and a half and
with the addition of the extra pair it was rounded up to six,
five in favour of Norfolk.
