Alan Nichols, the President welcomed 64 members
to his club, Eaton. We were able to tee off two tees, to enable
us to start the presentations and dinner early, prior to the AGM.
At this event it is customary to present cheques to our charities
for the year, this year it was for the East Anglian Air Ambulance
and Help for Heroes.
We were pleased to be able to present a cheque to Jess Down, of
the EAAA, for £825. She suitably thanked the members for
their generosity and gave a brief outline of what the money meant
to the running of the service and the running costs of such a
fine charity.
Unfortunately
the Secretary had not been able to get a representative of the
Help for Heroes to attend. This will be done on a future occasion,
as soon as possible.
The Society was welcomed to Eaton GC by the Captain Terry Hewitt,
this was suitably responded to by the President Alan. He thanked
the club for allowing him to host the event, in particular the
General Manager, Peter Johns, for all his help in making the day
such a success and the greens staff for the course preparation
and the caterers for looking after the members so well, all day.
At the prize giving the President presented many hidden prizes
and then presented the main prizes:
For the under 65's Steve Marsh winner with 37 points.
For the over 65's Roger Meadows with 39 points, he is now on a
hat trick as he won it in 2010 as well.
The annual two Mikes trophy was won by Steve Marsh with 105 points.
After the presentations the Secretary declared the AGM.
The President then presented the collar of office to the incoming
President Mike Bell and Keith Bass presented his collar to Randy
Reynolds the incoming Captain.
Various matters were discussed in particular the annual dinner
dance, this has now been put on hold and a sub committee will
be formed, with members John Aspland, Martin Cork and Maurice
Jay forming the sub-committee and they requested any members who
felt that they could help please put their names forward to the
Secretary.
The meeting closed and all returned home from an excellent day
at Eaton Golf Club.
